Working Principle
- Sediment retention and surface filtration: Suspended solids and larger impurities in the water are first trapped directly by the small voids formed in the upper filter media layer. A thin film then forms on the media surface, which continues to remove finer impurities on the “membrane filtration” principle.
- Depth filtration: As the water flows into deeper media layers, the remaining impurities enter the winding voids formed between the media grains. With more opportunities for contact with the media, the impurities are retained in the middle media layer.
Applications
